SUMMARY:Transgender Day of Remembrance
DESCRIPTION:Sussex Pride  will hold a vigil to honor the Transgender Day o
 f Remembrance on November 20th.   The event takes place at 6:30PM  at th
 e Unitarian Universalist Church of Southern Delaware.  This year's event 
 is co-chaired by Randi Johnson and Vienna Cavazos.\n\nThe Transgender Day 
 of Remembrance (TDOR) was started in 1999 by transgender advocate Gwendoly
 n Ann Smith as a vigil to honor the memory of Rita Hester\, a transgender 
 woman who was killed in 1998. The vigil commemorated all the transgender p
 eople lost to violence since Rita Hester’s death\, and began an importan
 t tradition that has become the annual Transgender Day of Remembrance.\n\n

 innis and will include remarks by veteran SrA Alexander Greyson.  This ev
 ent is free and open to everyone.  However\, if you would like to make a 
 donation to support this event\, options are included below.\n\nThe event 
 will  will end with a reading of the names of transgender and nonbinary c
 ommunity members brutally murdered in the last year.  The Human Rights Ca
 mpaign has documented 32 such deaths thus far this year.  Once again this
  year Salisbury PFLAG will be providing hand painted ornaments with the na
 mes of the deceased.\n\nSussex Pride works to celebrate\, strengthen\, and
  support the LGBTQ+ community in Sussex County and the state of Delaware\,
  working through a social justice lens. We focus on arts &amp\; culture\, 
 health &amp\; wellness\, social and support groups\, and advocacy for our
