SUMMARY:World AIDS Day 2026: Persistent Voices
DESCRIPTION:Save the Date!  Join us for a very special observance of World
  AIDS Day taking place at the Listening Booth from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.  P
 oet and storyteller Rev. Carla Christopher will host a  tribute to the ma
 ny artists whose careers were cut-short by AIDS.   The night will featur
 e poetry\, music\, and stories of some of the amazing artists we lost to t
 he epidemic.\n\nWe draw much of our inspiration from the ground-breaking a
 nthology: Persistent Voices: Poetry by Writers Lost to AIDS\, edited by P
 hilip Clark and David Groff.  From Reinaldo Arenas\, Tory Dent\, and Jame
 s Merrill to Paul Monette\, Essex Hemphill\, and Joe Brainard\, Persistent
  Voices memorializes these poets and many others by presenting their work
 —often dealing with AIDS but also written on other enduring topics—in 
 the context of an unending epidemic that has profoundly affected our liter
 ature.\n\nJoin us for a night of community\, poetry\, music\, food\, and m
 ost importantly\, remembrance as we come together to reflect on the profou
 nd impact HIV/AIDS has had in our community.\n\nThis event is free and ope
 n to the public and registration will be required.  Registration will go 
 live in November.  Seating will be limited for this event.   This event
