 lto. Raised in North Carolina on a steady diet of gospel and R&amp\;B\, sh
 e began her career at the legendary Olivia Records in the late 1970s.\n\nA
 bout Barbara Higbie\nBarbara Higbie is a Grammy-nominated\, Bammy award-wi
 nning composer\, pianist\, and master fiddler. As the first female instrum
 entalist signed to the iconic Windham Hill Records\, she helped define the
  "New Acoustic" sound of the 1980s. Her music is a lush tapestry woven fro
 m her global upbringing\, including years spent in Ghana\, West Africa\, a
