Honoring MSgt Logan Ireland, USAF (Ret.) 🏳️‍⚧️🇺🇸

Named to the 2026 Out100 Groundbreakers this week, Logan served more than 15 years in the Air Force — from combat operations in Afghanistan to leading teams in the Pacific.

When the transgender military ban ended his career, he became the lead plaintiff in Ireland v. USA, challenging the Air Force's revocation of previously approved retirements for long-serving transgender airmen. He now continues that fight on the board of SPARTA Pride.

"Plant trees knowing you may never sit beneath their shade," he says. "Plant them anyway."

Honoring every LGBTQ+ American who has worn the uniform. 🏳️‍🌈🇺🇸

Last month, Congresswoman Emily Randall and Senator Jeff Merkley introduced a resolution recognizing September 20 as National LGBTQ+ Servicemembers and Veterans Day — the 15th anniversary of the repeal of "Don't Ask, Don't Tell."

It's estimated that more than 100,000 servicemembers were discharged from the U.S. Armed Forces because of their sexual orientation or gender identity between WWII and 2011.

Endorsed by the Modern Military Association of America, the resolution honors the courage of LGBTQ+ veterans and calls on the federal government to ensure they receive the recognition, care, and benefits they earned.
