Delaware World AIDS Day 2026

Save the Date!Β Β Join us for a very special observance of World AIDS Day taking place at the Listening Booth from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.Β  Poet and storyteller Rev.Β Carla ChristopherΒ will host aΒ  tribute to the many artists whose careers were cut-short by AIDS.Β  Β The night will feature poetry, music, and stories of some of the amazing artists we lost to the epidemic. Registration required. We will be joined by Delaware Poet Laureates Nnamdi Chukwuocha and Albert Mills, known together as Twin Poets.

REGISTER FOR THIS EVENT

We draw much of our inspiration from the ground-breaking anthology: Persistent Voices: Poetry by Writers Lost to AIDS, edited by Philip Clark and David Groff.  From Reinaldo Arenas, Tory Dent, and James Merrill to Paul Monette, Essex Hemphill, and Joe Brainard, Persistent Voices memorializes these poets and many others by presenting their workβ€”often dealing with AIDS but also written on other enduring topicsβ€”in the context of an unending epidemic that has profoundly affected our literature.

Join us for a night of community, poetry, music, food, and most importantly, remembrance as we come together to reflect on the profound impact HIV/AIDS has had in our community.

The Listening Booth is located at 18388 Coastal Hwy #11, Lewes, Delaware, 19958. This event is free and open to the public and registration will be required.  Registration will go live in November.  Seating will be limited for this event.   This event is made possible with the support of Highmark Health Options.
