About the Film
Directed by Andie Morgenlander and co-written with Julia Christgau, Whistle Down Wind is an intimate, heartfelt drama that follows two lifelong friends and neighbors, Janie and Alex. Set against the backdrop of rural North Carolina, the story unfolds across three distinct chapters of their lives—childhood, adolescence, and adulthood—as their bond evolves into a secret romance that challenges their sense of identity, community, and personal truth.
Produced by the Justice Film Collective with an emphasis on equitable and community-centered filmmaking, this official festival selection stands out as a moving portrait of Southern queer life.
