YouthLink invites you to an online discussion on increasing engagement with child welfare agencies on supporting LGBTQ+ Youth.

In March 2022, the Children’s Bureau released new guidance on the treatment of LGBTQ+ youth in the child welfare system. This guidance from the Biden administration provides direction to child welfare agencies on how to support LGBTQ+ young people.

This guidance should spur more child welfare agencies to action, making this an opportunity for LGBTQ+ community centers to better serve youth engaged with these agencies by initiating and increasing engagements with the child welfare system.

Additionally, helping to ensure the implementation of this guidance is time-sensitive in that it could be eliminated after the next presidential election depending on the outcome. We must strike while the iron is hot!

Join YouthLink, Human Rights Campaign Foundation, and representatives from LGBTQ+ community centers for a dialogue about how community centers like Sussex Pride can be involved or more involved in this type of work and how YouthLink can support you in doing that.
