The Sussex Pride Health Committee will be meeting via zoom.  The group normally meets on the second Wednesday of every month at 3:00 PM.

The purpose of the committee is to address the health disparities LGBTQ+ people face in Sussex County. We have two main foci for the first meeting.

  1. Begin a discussion about an LGBTQ+ Health Needs Assessment for Sussex County. Sussex Pride hopes to do a needs assessment for the county to better understand how we can support our community. This would include quantitative and qualitative data, and evaluations about key facilities including schools and senior centers.
  2. To discuss how we can best connect LGBTQ+ folks, and specifically transgender community members, to the services they need. We are starting to do this through our online medical provider directory, but we will discuss having information nights, health fairs, clinic nights, or other events that can assist in this effort.

If you are interested in participating in the Health Committee, contact Kathy Carpenter at kathy@sussexpride.org.

Our healthcare committee is co hosted by:
  • Dr. Kameryn J. Lee, MD, MSPH, FACOG.  Dr. Lee is the founder and principal of the Radically Inclusive Consulting Collective, a recently developed consultancy that focuses on racial, LGBTQ+, and gender-diverse health equity, social justice, and education
  • Kathy Carpenter Brown.  Kathy Brown is the founder of Transliance, and the the subject of a 3 year documentary entitled I Am Kathy by Jane Therese.
