Join us for the next Sussex Pride Aging Meeting. This is a working meeting for those looking to provide support for LGBTQ+ older adults in Sussex County. The group typically meets on the fourth Wednesday of each month at 3:00 PM via Zoom.
For this meeting we will be joined by Terri Wilder, MSW. Terri is the Manager of Health and Economic Security Policy at SAGE (Services and Advocacy for LGBTQ+ Elders). Terri will talk about the LGBTQ+ and HIV Long Term Care Bill of Rights.
The LGBTQ+ and HIV Long-Term Care (LTC) Bill of Rights is a protective, state-level policy initiative ensuring that LGBTQ+ and HIV-positive residents in long-term care settings (like nursing homes) are safe from discrimination based on sexual orientation, gender identity (SOGI), or HIV status. These bills, active in states like New Jersey, New York, California, and others, mandate equal treatment, respect for chosen names and pronouns, and appropriate medical care.
