Where are you originally from?

I grew up in Frederica, DE and moved out of my family home after going to Afghanistan in 2013-2014 with the Delaware Army National Guard. I served for 9 years and was medically retired in 2019.

How has the area changed?

The Delaware I grew up in has evolved in many ways, but I am honored to have the leadership we have today. They are guiding us in a positive direction, and it is greatly appreciated.

Who is your LGBTQ+ hero?  Who do you look up to most in our community and why?

My LGBTQ+ hero is RuPaul Charles. I know this seems like a copout answer, but he has brought our community together in ways no other person has. Despite his faults, he has celebrated us and showed the world that we have charisma, uniqueness, nerve, and talent, that we are just as important, and that we deserve a platform.

What is your volunteer role at Sussex Pride and what do you like most about it?

I am assisting with facilitating the Delaware Anti-Violence Project with Sussex Pride. A group that aims to combat hate crimes and hate bias throughout Delaware. We are currently collecting data and exploring what strategies we can implement to keep our communities safe.

When was the first time you went to a Pride Event?  What do you remember about it?

My first Pride Event was in Dover, DE several years ago. My favorite part was watching the drag queens and learning about the resources available to the community.

What is your go-to karaoke song?

My go-to karaoke song is Baby Got Back, by Sir Mix-a-Lot.

What’s your favorite way to unwind after a hectic day?

I enjoy listening to music, meditating, and going for walks in the park to unwind after a long day.

What have you enjoyed most about volunteering with Sussex Pride and what advice would you give to someone who is thinking about volunteering?

I have thoroughly enjoyed volunteering with Sussex Pride. It has provided me with the opportunity to expand my interviewing skills, meet the most incredible people, work to find solutions to a growing problem, and filled me with a sense of purpose. Thank you to Sussex Pride for this experience!
