Housing Projects in Sussex County

The Wilmington PFLAG’s Housing Safeguard Committee and the Sussex Housing Group of Housing Alliance Delaware work closely with the West End Neighborhood House which provides Life Lines social support programs to former and current foster youth, unaccompanied youth, and young adults experiencing homelessness. Life Lines combines case management with wrap-around services such as education, job training, housing navigation, finance skills, and mental health assistance. We aim to work with the Housing Alliance of Delaware to extend the reach of the West End Neighborhood to Sussex County.

The Housing Safeguard Committee has also developed an anti-discrimination training with the Department of Social Services in response to LGBTQ+ Delawareans being turned away from shelters and hopes to expand this training to all state departments. They aim to implement a training on homeless LGBTQ+ youth for DSCYF.

A big thanks to Jim Bianchetta (pflagwilmde.YouthHousing@gmail.com) and Sonya Starr (sonyastarr@housingalliancede.org) for leading the charge. Click here to show your support for the West End Neighborhood!
