The Sussex Pride Health Committee will be meeting via zoom. The group normally meets on the second Wednesday of every month at 3:00 PM. Our guest speaker will be Adrian Shanker (he/him).
Adrian Shanker served under the Biden-Harris Administration as Deputy Assistant Secretary for Health Policy and Senior Advisor on LGBTQI+ Health Equity at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Previously the Executive Director of the Bradbury-Sullivan LGBT Community Center. In that role, he created and broadly implemented the biannual Pennsylvania LGBTQ Health Needs Assessment in 2015, 2018, 2020, and 2022. He will speak about the importance of this work and provide thoughts on how we can pursue similar efforts in Delaware.
Adrian has edited two anthologies, Bodies and Barriers: Queer Activists on Health and Crisis and Care: Queer Activist Responses to a Global Pandemic and authored chapters in three additional books.
The purpose of the Sussex Pride Health Committee is to address the health disparities LGBTQ+ people face in Sussex County. If you are interested in participating in this meeting and you are not already a member of the Health Committee Google Group, please register at the bottom of this page.
