November 23rd is Polyamory Day. Polyamory is the practice of, or desire for, intimate relationships with more than one partner, with the consent of all partners involved. It has been described as “consensual, ethical, and responsible non-monogamy”.
Polyamory Day was born in Canada. On November 23, 2011, the British Columbia Supreme Court ruled that Section 293 of the Criminal Code of Canada does not apply to unformalized polyamorous relationships. That decision was not appealed and effectively makes polyamory legal in Canada where a person is not married in a ceremony to more than two people.
