Sussex Pride Program committees are made up of community members like you, along with representatives from other non-profit organizations and state agencies, working together to improve the quality of life for LGBTQ+ folks living in Sussex County and the state of Delaware.
Sussex Pride currently has two committees meeting monthly. They are our health committee and Sussex Pride Aging. We are planning to start a third program committee which will be a youth council for LGBTQ+ youth 13-21.
More information about these committees is listed below. If you are interested in joining one of these committees, please fill out the Volunteer Interest Form and check the box next to the committee that you would like to be a part of.
Health Committee
The Health Committee is working to eliminate LGBTQ+ health disparities in Sussex County and the state of Delaware, and to promote culturally appropriate medical care to our community. Current projects include the Delmarva LGBTQ+ Climate survey (in partnership with the University of Maryland Eastern Shore), and Transgender Care Focus groups (in partnership with the University of Salisbury). The group typically meets on the second Wednesday of every month at three PM.
Sussex Pride Aging
Sussex Pride Aging works to support LGBTQ+ older adults in Sussex County and the state of Delaware. We recently completed a LGBTQ+ Aging community roundtable and are working to address the needs raised at this event. The group typically meets on the ourth Wednesday of every month at noon.
Sussex Pride Youth Council
Starting in September, we plan to form a Youth Council made up of young people aged 13-21. The Youth Council will help plan our Sussex Pride Youth events, and participate in LGBTQ+ advocacy initiatives.
